Outdoor Bootcamp Workouts
Outdoor bootcamp workouts have become a great way for personal trainers to make some extra income during the summer months. Outdoor bootcamp workouts are a great way for people to get in shape and still enjoy the nice fresh air, many personal trainers are taking advantage of the nice weather and running bootcamps outside in their local parks. People prefer to be outside in the summer and don’t feel like having to go workout inside when they could be outdoors enjoying the sunshine.
There are many advantages to having outdoor bootcamp classes vs indoor bootcamp classes. Here are some of the pros and cons when considering the location, cost, scheduling, atmosphere and variety of exercises.
Outdoor Bootcamp Workouts Pros vs Cons
Locations you can use
Outdoor bootcamp workouts can take place anywhere. You may have even seen one in a local park. The advantages that an outdoor bootcamp has over indoor is that the location can be moved or the trainer can utilize several locations so people can have a bootcamp in their neighborhood and not have to commute to get to their workout.
Cost of Outdoor Bootcamp Workouts
The overhead cost of an outdoor bootcamp is minimal when compared to the cost of an indoor bootcamp. Most indoor bootcamps will charge a rental fee per hour or for a month of use. The use of parks for outdoor bootcamps is usually a minimal cost or may even be free. Make sure to check with your local city council to make sure you are able to run your bootcamps there first. If you can’t find a park in your area there may be a business that has a large property and willing to rent out their yard. Some other options may also include a soccer field, baseball field or schools.
Times for Outdoor Bootcamps
Outdoor bootcamps have a lot more flexibility as to the times that you can run your bootcamps. Most outdoor areas will probably have more available times that you can schedule classes. Indoor gyms or community centers will want specific times booked and won’t provide as much flexibility.
Atmosphere
The atmosphere of your bootcamp depends mostly on the weather for outdoor bootcamps. Your bootcampers will be happy and motivated if the weather is nice but probably not as happy if it’s raining, cold or cloudy. The advantage to having it inside is that the atmosphere is constant and you don’t have to worry about what the weather will be.
Outdoor Exercise Variety
The amount of bootcamp exercise ideas you can use with outdoor bootcamp workouts will be larger then an indoor bootcamp. Being outdoors gives you the option of doing sprints, hill runs and obstacle courses which you wouldn’t be able to do indoors. If your bootcamp is at a playground you may also be able to do pullups on the equipment that is there. Some bootcamps even use large tires that people move as part of their workout. There are many options outdoors. Be creative.
If you are deciding whether to have an indoor bootcamp or outdoor bootcamp simply weigh each of these possiblities when making your decision. If you have a flexible option that includes a back up plan for either that would most likely be the best solution.
